Frequently Asked Questions

What does Reiki mean?

Reiki is a combination of two Japanese words: Rei and Ki, which mean Universal Life Force.

How do I prepare for a session?

Drink lots of water in the days leading up to the session to ensure that you are properly hydrated and be sure to wear very comfortable clothing. For yoni steaming sessions, be sure to bring a towel so that you can dry off afterwards. Other than that, just come open and ready to receive a beautiful healing experience!

What does a Reiki session feel like?

A Reiki session feels different to each client. Some people feel tingling or buzzing. Others feel warmth or cold. Some people feel nothing in particular. The sensations that a person will feel during a Reiki session are as unique as each client. What you most certainly will feel after a Reiki session is relaxed! The best thing that you can do is to come to a Reiki session open and prepared to receive a beautiful and relaxing experience!

Is Reiki like a massage?

While some people like to compare a Reiki session to a massage, the two are very different. A massage requires hands on contact that applies pressure to the human body, whereas Reiki does not. Reiki utilizes a series of hand positions on/over various parts of the body, which requires no pressure be applied to the client’s body. While many clients actually prefer hands on healing, just as many clients prefer hands off. Either method is effective for Reiki healing. Massage focuses on the human hands as healing tools, whereas Reiki utilizes Universal life force energy, or ‘ki’ to provide healing. Massage is a physical healing therapy, whereas Reiki is an energy therapy. Another fundamental difference to note is that Reiki DOES NOT REQUIRE CLIENTS TO DISROBE! During a massage, clients are at least partially disrobed. A true Reiki professional will not ask you to remove your clothes. The Homegirl Healer will not honor any requests to perform a Reiki session on a client that is not fully clothed.

Is Reiki a Religion?

No. Reiki is a healing modality. Religion does not factor into a Reiki session. While Reiki professionals are allowed to practice any faith they choose, it is something that they do in their personal time. Religion has no bearing on Reiki.

Will Reiki cure me of (illness/ailment/issue/dis-ease)?

Reiki should not take the place of receiving traditional health care. Reiki is a great accompaniment to medical treatment, but it should not replace receiving care from a qualified healthcare professional. Reiki professionals are not licensed to diagnose, treat or cure any illness, unless that Reiki professional is also a doctor.

How sanitary is yoni steaming?

We have very strict policies about sanitation. All cleaning supplies are hospital grade, meaning that we use the same sanitation products used in hospitals to ensure all of our products remain sanitized.

The answer to this question varies from woman to woman. The clients who I have serviced report feeling a positive emotional shift after the first session. Some clients report immediate physical improvements, and for other clients, it may take a few more session. We can work together to get to the root of your issue and create a healing plan together!

How private is each session?

All of our services are offered on a 1-on-1 basis to ensure your privacy. This is why we even offer to bring it you in an environment where you are most comfortable. There is an additional $30 traveling service fee for mobile services.

Will I be naked during my yoni steaming session?

Yes, but you are will be fully covered in a steaming cape. The only parts of your body that will be exposed are your head, neck and feet. Most women are fine with being nude under the steaming cape, but there are some women who choose to only remove their bottoms, as your yoni will need to be exposed beneath the cape to absorb the herbal steam. THH is happy to accommodate either option, just let us know your preference when you arrive for your session.
